Beargrease Cub Run 2016

Thanks to hard work of musher Billy Diver, Lynn Svercl, and others, the 2016 John Beargrease Cub Run was a huge success!  The faces of the young mushers and their fans were all smiles as they looped around a 3/4 mile trail.  Check out the videos below.

I love dogs. We have 55 dogs in our kennel at Positive Energy Outdoors (www.outdooradventures,org). Mushing is fun and challenging. I hope I win first place.

 

Elena Freking

FINLAND, MN

Elena is excited to be running her dog, BooBoo, in the Beargrease Cub Run again this year. Mushing comes very naturally to Elena as she has been on the runners and/or in the sled since before she was born. BooBoo and Elena spend a lot of time together exploring the woods of northern MN, playing fetch at the lake, or just snuggling on the couch.

 

Morgan Martens

BRULE, WI

Morgan and his family are all involved in dog mushing and have 9 sled dogs. Morgan has been on the runners since he was a year old. He has competed in the Apostle Island Sled Dog Race Family Run for 4 years. He helps train his dogs and helps take care of dogs, horses, llamas and his show chickens. Morgan is in the 3rd grade and attends the Iron River Elementary School. He is a member of the North Woods Harness Club, Gitche Gumee 4H, and plays basketball and baseball. Morgan is excited to be a rookie for the Beargrease!

 

Nicole Freking

FINLAND, MN

Nicole has been mushing since before she was born. Nicole is a spunky preschooler who is very excited to run her first race with her dog, Janis. Janis and Nicole are both 3 years old and they love to play together. Nicole loves to run and play and also take dance classes along with her sister, Elena.
